Calendar Sync

Calendar sync automatically shows your published shifts in your personal calendar — in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, or any other calendar app.

Plus Feature

Calendar sync is available on the Plus plan and above.

How It Works

medishift creates a personal calendar feed (iCal URL) that your calendar app subscribes to. Whenever your shifts change, your calendar is updated automatically.

  • New shifts appear automatically
  • Deleted or changed shifts are updated on the next sync
  • The feed includes all your published shifts

Enable Calendar Feed

In the Web App

  1. Go to SettingsProfile
  2. Scroll to the Integrations section
  3. Click Enable calendar feed
  4. Click Google Calendar or Apple / Outlook to add the feed directly

In the Mobile App

  1. Tap your profile picture (top right)
  2. Tap Calendar sync
  3. Tap Enable calendar feed
  4. Choose Google Calendar or Apple Calendar / Outlook

Add to Google Calendar

  1. Enable the calendar feed (see above)
  2. Click the Google Calendar button
  3. Google Calendar opens and asks if you want to subscribe
  4. Confirm by clicking Add

Your shifts now appear as events in Google Calendar.

Add to Apple Calendar / Outlook

  1. Enable the calendar feed (see above)
  2. Click the Apple / Outlook button
  3. Your device opens the calendar app and offers to subscribe
  4. Confirm by clicking Subscribe
Tip

On iPhone, the Calendar app opens directly with the subscription dialog. On Mac, you can also add the URL manually: CalendarFileNew Calendar Subscription.

Copy URL Manually

If you use a different calendar app or want to paste the URL manually:

  1. Click Copy URL manually in the settings
  2. Copy the displayed URL
  3. Add it in your calendar app as a Calendar subscription (iCal/Webcal)
Security Notice

Do not share this URL. Anyone with the URL can see your shifts.

If you suspect someone unauthorized has access to your calendar URL:

  1. Go to SettingsProfileIntegrations
  2. Click Regenerate link
  3. Confirm the action

The old link will stop working. You need to remove the calendar from your calendar app and re-add it with the new URL.

Deactivate

  1. Go to SettingsProfileIntegrations
  2. Click Deactivate
  3. Confirm the action

The calendar feed is deactivated immediately. Remember to also remove the subscribed calendar from your calendar app.

FAQ

Why don't I see new shifts in my calendar immediately?

Calendar apps fetch the feed at regular intervals — typically every 15 minutes to 24 hours. Google Calendar, for example, updates roughly every 12–24 hours. You can trigger a manual refresh in some apps.

What happens when I deactivate the feed?

Existing events remain in your calendar. On the next fetch attempt, your calendar app receives an error and won't show new updates. To fully remove the events, delete the subscribed calendar manually in your calendar app.

Can I sync only specific shifts?

Currently, all your published shifts are synced. Filtering by department or location is not yet available.

Does it work with other calendar apps?

Yes. Any app that supports iCal/Webcal subscriptions can subscribe to the feed. This includes Thunderbird, Samsung Calendar, and many others.

I downgraded my plan — what happens to the feed?

If you switch from Plus to the Free plan, the feed is deactivated. Your calendar app will no longer receive updates.
