Notifications
medishift keeps you informed about important events via push notifications — directly on your smartphone.
What notifications are available?
| Event | Description |
|---|---|
| Shift published | You are notified when new shifts are published |
| Replacement request | A colleague is looking for a substitute for their shift |
| Shift taken over | Someone has taken over your shift (replacement request) |
| Absence request | Your leave request has been approved or rejected |
Setting up push notifications
To receive push notifications, you need the medishift mobile app on your smartphone.
iOS (iPhone / iPad)
- Open your device's Settings
- Scroll down and tap medishift
- Tap Notifications
- Enable Allow Notifications
Make sure Sounds and Banners are also enabled so you don't miss any notifications.
Android
- Open your device's Settings
- Tap Apps (or Apps & Notifications)
- Find and tap medishift
- Tap Notifications
- Enable Show notifications
Not receiving push notifications?
If you're not receiving push notifications, work through this checklist:
1. Check system permissions
The most common cause: medishift doesn't have permission to send you notifications.
- iPhone/iPad: Settings → medishift → Notifications → Allow Notifications must be enabled
- Android: Settings → Apps → medishift → Notifications → Show notifications must be enabled
Without this system permission, medishift cannot send you push notifications — even if notifications are enabled within the app.
2. Check in-app settings
You can also enable and disable notifications within the medishift app:
- Open the medishift app
- Go to Settings → Notifications
- Check that the desired categories are enabled
3. Check "Do Not Disturb" mode
If your device is in Do Not Disturb or Focus mode, notifications will be suppressed.
- iPhone/iPad: Open Control Center → check Focus icon
- Android: Open Quick Settings → check "Do Not Disturb"
4. Update the app
Make sure you're using the latest version of the medishift app:
- iPhone/iPad: Open App Store → Profile → check for updates
- Android: Open Play Store → Profile → Manage apps → check for updates
5. Check internet connection
Push notifications require an active internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data).
Managing notifications
You can choose which notifications you want to receive in the medishift app:
- Open the medishift app
- Go to Settings → Notifications
- Enable or disable individual categories as needed
Some notifications (e.g. for replacement requests) can also be enabled or disabled by the planner at the organization level.
